Arizona Insurance CE Requirements
In the state of Arizona, insurance license holders are required to renew their license every four years. Take one of our affordable online Continuing Education (CE) courses, or buy a package for the same price and cover multiple lines of authority. Get started today.

Arizona requires license holders to complete 48 hours of CE training every 4 years, with at least 6 of those hours being focused on ethics. All licensed resident insurance producers and managing general agents are required to complete approved Arizona insurance continuing education before renewing their licenses.
It is important to note that excess credit hours do not carry over to other renewal periods, and that AZ allows courses to be retaken in separate renewal periods.
Some individuals are exempt from the 4-year renewal cycle. These include:
- Anyone holding a non-resident insurance producer license.
- Limited line producers, such as credit and travel-only agents.
Major line producers may be exempt if they meet all of the following conditions:
- Anyone holding a non-resident insurance producer license.
- Limited line producers, such as credit and travel-only agents.
- License term began after January 1, 2014.
- Agent was continually licensed since January 1, 1995.
- Agent has not held a non-resident producer license in any state at any point since January 1, 1995.
- Agent has never been the subject of an order from the director of insurance regarding a violation of Arizona insurance laws (includes cease and desists, license suspensions, license revocations, and license non-renewals).
Time for your Arizona insurance license renewal? Here are the requirements in AZ:
- Complete 48 hours of online, textbook, or classroom CE courses (including 6 hours of ethics) every 4 years.
- Course subject material must be taken in lines held, or general insurance and law topics.
- You must pass your course completion examination with a 70% or better.
- Courses completion exams must be proctored by another Arizona licensed insurance producer or by someone who is in the business of teaching or administering examinations.
- Flood Requirement: Must complete a 3-hour course with every renewal. Course must be approved for CE in Arizona.
You are not permitted to:
- Repeat courses for credit in one renewal period.
- Carry over excess credit hours to the next renewal period.
- Take the exams open book.
