Mississippi Insurance Continuing Education (CE) Requirements

Insurance license requirements vary quite a bit in Mississippi, depending on experience and line of authority.
- If you have been licensed for less than 18 months, you are only required to complete 12 hours of CE.
- If you have been licensed for over 18 months, you are required to complete 24 hours of CE every two years.
- At least 3 of those hours must be in ethics.
- Courses must pertain to the same line or lines of authority in which the producer is licensed. (For example, the Life Fundamentals Package is perfect for a Life Insurance agent.)
- Insurance CE credits do not carry over from one reporting period to another.
- Producers must maintain 5 years’ worth of Mississippi CE credit records.
Limited line producers and non-resident producers are not required to complete CE courses. Individuals who were not required to take a pre-licensing examination or meet a pre-licensing education requirement while obtaining their license are also exempt.

After the first 18 months of licensing, Mississippi has a fairly uniform renewal process. Producers are required to complete 24 hours of CE training, 3 of which must be in ethics. The remaining 21 hours have to be accumulated in courses that are relevant to the licensed line of authority. Excess credit hours do not carry over to the next renewal period.
At the end of the CE course, producers must pass a proctored completion exam. After you pass our course, we will send your completion information on to Sircon. Not licensed in Mississippi?
