The Nebraska Department of Insurance requires that all licensed resident producers complete a total of 24 CE hours every two years. At least 3 of the hours must be devoted to ethics courses. Any hours beyond the mandated 24 do not count towards license renewal, now or in the future.

Most limited lined agents, as well as nonresident producers, are exempt from Nebraska insurance continuing education requirements.

Time for your Nebraska insurance license renewal? It's important to know the requirements:

  • 24 hours of CE every 2 years.
    • 3 of the hours must be in ethics, and the other 21 can be in any line of authority.
  • A grade of 70% or better on your course completion examination to pass.
  • Licenses renew biennially on the licensee’s birth month.
  • Hours must be reported prior to renewal date.

Nebraska does not allow:

  • Courses to be repeated for credit in one renewal period.
  • Excess credit hours do not carry over to the next renewal period.
