New Jersey Insurance Continuing Education (CE) Requirements

License Renewal Requirements
Here are some important numbers for New Jersey license holders to know:
- License renewal is required every 2 years.
- All insurance producers must complete 24 total hours of continuing education.
- 3 hours of ethics is required, but no more than 10 is allowed.
- Licenses must be renewed before the last day of the producer's birth month at least 13, but not more than 25, months after the license was issued.
- Carrying over credit hours to the next renewal period is not allowed.
Any course approved for CE in New Jersey may be taken for credit, even if it is outside your licensed line of authority.
Nonresident agents are the only group not expected to comply with New Jersey’s CE requirements.
Time for your New Jersey insurance license renewal? It's important to know the requirements:
- Complete 24 hours of CE are required every 2 years.
- Take at least 3 hours of approved ethics courses.
You should not expect to:
- Carry over excess credit hours to the next renewal period.
- Repeat the same course for credit within a single reporting period.
